The Moonlight Club will release their debut self-titled album on February 2nd
For Immediate Release
Montreal, January 29th, 2017 - IMTL Press is excited to announce the release of The Moonlight Club's debut self-titled album on February 2nd.
Following the 2015 release of their Words in Gold EP, The Moonlight Club is back and ready to release their first full-length album. Recorded in Montreal's Plateau at Breakglass Studios, the album was produced by David Smith (Patrick Watson, Elephant Stone, Leif Vollebekk). The album's artwork was done by Montreal artist Olivier Chartrand. The result of a nine day recording session, The Moonlight Club emerged with their first official single "A Little Too Easy" on November 10th, 2017, and a second single "Are You Up" early January, promoting the album that will be out on February 2nd, 2018. In early March, the band will play an intimate launch at The Emerald, and will participate to the Deadly Tuesdaysat La Rockette.
No matter where they come from and when they were born, The Moonlight Club members play with extremes and don’t hesitate to mix Folk Rock Jangle from the 60s with 80’s new wave. They opted for a raw and minimalist style of production and didn't hesitate to keep the imperfections of studio recordings. The result is an authentic sound carried by a significant energy and sometimes tinged with melancholy that reminds us of The Stone Roses, The Smiths and Echo & The Bunnymen.
About The Moonlight Club
Big, bright, jangly guitars inspired by REM and The Smiths mixed with 80s new wave grooves, Montreal's The Moonlight Club is the creation of longtime friends Francois Royer Mireault (guitars, vocals) and John Pankert (bass, vocals). The pair moved to Montreal in 2010 and discovered an eclectic and vibrant music scene that revived their high school ambitions of recording music. François' obsession with songwriting and love for bands such as The Stone Roses, Neil Young and The Kinks led the group to record two dozen demos. John brought grooves from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The War On Drugs and Future Islands. François Rousseau (drums) joined the band in 2015. In 2015, impressed by local band Elephant Stone's EP, The Glass Box, François contacted David Smith at Breakglass Studios to help them record a debut EP. The result was a five-song set called Words in Gold. Their first full-length album, which is self-titled, is set to be released on February 2nd, 2018.
